As is now traditional, the Brownies and Beavers started our evening with seasonal songs and poems, with a novel and highly amusing take on "The Twelve Days of Christmas", in which placards illustrating each of the days were raised in time with the words. This year's meal was a choice of chicken & broccoli bake or fish pie, followed by chocolate roulade or trifle, with wine, tea, coffee and crackers, from funds raised during the year by members of the Acton Bridge Women's Institute. Catering was by "Pamela". After the meal and a raffle we enjoyed a selection of songs from the musicals, pop numbers and some with a Christmas flavour, beautifully sung for us by Emily Peach, grand-daughter of a WI member.
WI Pensioners' Christmas Party, December 2006
Many villagers came to the Parish Rooms to enjoy a festive meal, and entertainment from members of the WI. These included a "Health and Safety" take on the battle of Trafalgar, "Grumpy Old Women", and several songs including an unusual rendition of "Animal Crackers"!
